Endnote:

1. Rank and tenure status were combined for the present analysis. All non-tenure track respondents, regardless of rank, were grouped into the "Non-Tenure Track (Any Rank)" category. The remaining faculty members were categorized by their rank as either Full, Associate, or Assistant Professors, regardless of whether or not they have achieved tenure. For example, among all respondents, 93.0 percent of Associate Professors are tenured, 3.3 percent are non-tenured/tenure track, and the remaining 3.7 percent are non-tenure track. For the analysis presented here, the 96.3 percent of Associate Professors who are tenure track (tenured and probationary) are included in the "Associate Professor (Tenure Track)" category. (back)
