(appointment and employment policies) Compliance Explanation Policies regarding appointment and employment of faculty and staff are posted at NC State University's Policies, Regulations and Rules website, maintained jointly by the Internal Audit Department and the Office of Legal Affairs. Specific policies related to employment are available in the employment section. NC State University is committed to equal opportunity within its community, hence most of the same policies are also posted at the employment section of the NC State University Office for Equal Opportunity website. Special policies governing the hiring of new faculty are published in portable document format to ensure accuracy in downloading and printing. The Office of Equal Opportunity site also provides a variety of downloadable forms to ensure that employment processes are conducted in accordance with state and federal law. Employment concerns are also addressed on the Faculty Focus Resource Page, which warehouses information about employment and professional development. The site is designed to meet various faculty needs, hence it contains information about quality of life issues as well as professional development. The Office of the Provost publishes information about continuing employment with NC State University, including general evaluation policies on the Comprehensive Review of Tenured Faculty web page. The university also has enacted policies to ensure reasonable accommodation for disabled employees, as mandated by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Finally, all faculty and staff who teach and support distance education programs are subject to these same policies and rules for employment. Distance education faculty have academic appointments in on-campus departments. Even instructors who teach only distance education courses still must have NC State University faculty status.
